ACT Parkcare
ParkCare is a volunteer community program for people with an interest in the natural environment. ParkCare volunteers contribute to protecting the natural and cultural sites within the ACT and Googong Foreshores.
Farrer Ridge Parkcare group weeding and revegetation activity.Anyone can become a ParkCarer - enthusiasm is all that is needed. Training, equipment and support are provided by the ACT Parks and Conservation Service. ParkCare volunteers do a variety of important activities including;
- seed collection;
- plant propagation;
- tree planting;
- weed removal;
- erosion control;
- vegetation mapping and recording;
- water quality monitoring;
- raising community awareness; and
- maintenance and restoration of heritage places.
