There are so many ways to get involved in Landcare it could take you a whole week! Get involved and tackle the Landcare Week Challenge! MONDAY –Join a local Landcare or ParkCare Group Get fit, meet new people and make a real on the ground difference. Work on your own property or on local parks and reserves. TUESDAY – Contribute in your trackie daks Upload those beautiful nature shots or geotag that rare bird sighting and help the community build an interactive map of the bush in our capital on Canberra Nature Map. WEDNESDAY – Become a citizen scientist Learn how to monitor environmental indicators like birds, animals, plants and bugs with a local naturalist group like Canberra Ornithologists or join Waterwatch or FrogWatch. THURSDAY –Be the change you want to see in the world Skill up with workshops and training such as these short weekend sustainable living courses with Canberra Environment Centre. FRIDAY – Learn about your local environment The Conservation Council's Treasures of the ACT Region booklet series covers our natural and cultural heritage in an easy to use guide book format. Or if you are more technically minded the MyEnvironment Ap lists envionmental assets and heritage in your suburb and surrounds. SATURDAY – Get the kids dirty this weekend Scruff up your Saturday and take the kids along to North Belconnen Junior Landcare. Meet at 10am Saturday and Wednesday mornings, 6 Spain Place, Evatt and head to Ginninderra Creek. Or learn about ecology as a family by meeting a Bettong or going on a family night walk at Mulligans Flat . SUNDAY - Take things one day at a time And sign on to a once off volunteering event or activity through Conservation Volunteers or receive news about upcoming opportunities through Greening Australia’s Newsletter. |
